[Class 53] A pasted accumulator plate consists of a conducting diaphragm surrounded by a frame a and having on each face a number of inclined ribs h. The edges of the ribs may be turned up as shown at h<1> in Fig. 4, to retain the paste in position and the ribs on one side of the plate may be staggered with respect to those on the other side. The plate may be divided into panels by cross bars f, g, and additional bars n may be provided at the upper end of the plate. The diaphragm j may be of increasing thickness at the corner near the lug k. The side members of the frame a may be stepped as shown at i. The stepped formation may also be applied to the bar f. The frame a may be provided with projections m which form points from which gas is evolved more readily than from the pasted surfaces of the plates. The projections may be roughened or provided with numerous small pointed projections and they may also be provided on the bar f. Feet k<1> may be provided on the lower edge of the plate.
