Introduced are a hands-free trunk opening system and a trunk opening method. The hands-free trunk opening system includes a trunk antenna; a smart key transmitting response signals or authentication response signals corresponding to sensing signals or authentication signals of the trunk antenna when receiving the signals, receiving a command of turning on a hands-free function to record, and transmitting sensing response signals including function turning-on information when turning on the hands-free function; a receiving antenna receiving the sensing response signals or authentication response signals of the smart key; and a controller enabling the trunk antenna to transmit the authentication signals when the trunk antenna transmits the sensing signals at constant intervals and the receiving antenna receives the sensing response signals including the function turning-on information for the preset number of times and performing an authentication process when the receiving antenna receives the authentication response signals, and transmitting trunk open signals in case of authentication. |
