The present invention relates to a fuel soluble additive for a diesel engine, a method for improving the performance of a fuel sprayer and a method for purifying the fuel sprayer for the diesel engine. The fuel soluble additive comprises quaternary ammonium salts derived from amido amine and epoxide containing one or more tertiary amino groups under proton donors selected among carboxylic acid and alkyl phenol. Amido amine is actually manufactured in a reaction medium without an acylating agent.
