摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of accurately measuring stresses arising in a rotational device such as a constant velocity joint. SOLUTION: A stress measuring method of measuring stresses arising in a rotational device by the use of infrared thermography, first measures the initial temperature before imposing a load on the rotational device, then causes repeated load variations to occur in the rotational device, and figures out the average temperature during the first period of load variations and the average temperature during the final period of load variations as a first average temperature and a second average temperature, respectively. A temperature gradient with respect to time is figured out on the basis of the difference between the first average temperature and the second average temperature (stress elimination) and the temperature characteristic of frictional heat is determined on the basis of this difference and the initial temperature. Then, a corrected temperature distribution is figured out by subtracting a temperature calculated on the basis of the temperature characteristic from the actual temperature distribution measured on the rotational device, and a stress distribution is figured out.
