An electric machine 10 having a rectifier assembly 32 surrounded by an insulating shaft tube 30 placed within a rotating shaft 24 of the electric machine to convert the AC output of the exciting electric machine 12 to DC to supply the rotor of the generating unit 18. Back to back diode rectification units 76 are mounted between conductive sleeve segments 48,50 which are connected to DC output conductors 63, AC input conductors 62 being supported in isolating sleeve segments 54, the conductive and isolating segments being assembled together to form a tube containing the rectifying element. The rectifying assembly 32 is inserted into shaft tube 30, contact members 64 connecting to wiring 36 via openings 40. Fastenings 55 extend though bores 54 into opening 100 in the rectifier support member 98 (fig 4 not shown), Additional fastenings extend though bore 54 in the isolating segments to engage the units 76 i the AC terminal bars which connect the diodes to the AC conductors (see fig 4). |
