PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus which expects trouble when a recording medium not matching with a feed route advances into the feed route. SOLUTION: The recording apparatus includes the feed route which has a section curved in a side view and in which the recording medium is sent, a recording part which records by a recording head to the recording medium, a feeding means which sends the recording medium in the feed route in a feeding direction, a motor which drives the feeding means, and a determining means which determines whether or not a current value of the motor when driving the feeding means reaches a predetermined threshold value. At least a part of the recording medium is sent by the feeding means to the curved section of the feed route before recording by the recording part starts (S3). The determination is made by the determining means (S5). Driving of the motor in a direction in which the recording medium is advanced into the curved section is stopped when the determining means determines that the current value reaches the threshold value (S9).
