PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely transport a recording medium without contaminating its image surface even when transporting the recording medium formed with an image by using a liquid recording agent difficult to dry, and to reduce cost. SOLUTION: In this recording medium transport device, a plurality of transport roller pairs 74-79 and the like are arranged at intervals along a transport path for transporting paper sheet 10 formed with an image by using an ink in an image formation portion 5; the respective transport rollers include drive rollers 74a-79a and the like each contacting a non-image-formation surface side of the paper sheet 10 and driven rollers 74b-79b and the like each contacting an image formation surface side; and the driven rollers are pressed against the drive rollers by certain energization force. Each of the respective driven rollers 74b-79b and the like is formed by using a point contact roller; and contact areas between the point contact rollers 74b-79b and the like and the paper sheet 10 are reduced in accordance with a transport time or a transport distance of the paper sheet 10 formed with the image from the image formation portion 5 to the transport roller pairs 74-79 and the like.
