Disclosed are an engine synchronization device and a control method therefor. The engine synchronization device of the present invention comprises a crank position sensor which counts a valid tooth of a crank shaft and detects a gap; a cam position sensor which detects the edge of a cam shaft rotating along with the crank shaft; and an electronic control device which performs engine synchronization by calculating signals of the crank position sensor and signals of the cam position sensor. The electronic control device performs engine synchronization when the gap is detected after the edge is detected while the valid tooth are being counted. According to the present invention, the electronic control device performs engine synchronization when the gap is detected after edge position is detected by the cam sensor while the valid tooth are being counted. Therefore, delay time of overall engine synchronization can be shortened. Also, an engine is operated quickly such that the incomplete combustion and emission of unburned gas can be prevented. In addition, the lifespan of an engine can be extended. |
