The present invention relates to a composition comprising a mixed extract of Hibiscus mutabilis and Patrinia villosa for enhancing skin barrier function and reducing skin irritation. According to the present invention, the mixed extract of Hibiscus mutabilis and Patrinia villosa shows effects of promoting cell proliferation, anti-oxidation, anti-inflammation, moisturizing, and alleviating pruritus. Thus, the mixed extract of Hibiscus mutabilis and Patrinia villosa of the present invention can be used as a cosmetic composition for enhancing skin barrier function and reducing skin irritation.
