The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing acetophenone by selective oxidation of ethyl benzene. According to the present invention, provided is a method for mass producing acetophenone in high yield through a simplified process. The method for manufacturing acetophenone includes a step of oxidizing ethyl benzene by a molecular oxygen containing gas under existence of an organic acid medium having a catalyst compound including cobalt, manganese, and brome as active components, and water existing.
