The present invention relates to a shank of a spot welding gun. More specifically, when the shank is used, welding defect, caused by direct contact of the shank with a base material to be welded when a tip escapes from the spot welding gun, can be prevented; the tip is prevented from escaping from the spot welding gun due to heat expansion of the shank. The spot welding gun includes: the shank which is installed on an arm of a welding robot and includes a hole penetrating the center thereof; a cooling water pipeline which is arranged in the hole of the shank and forms a pathway of cooling water; and the tip part which is joined with an outer surface of an end portion of the shank and seals the hole.
