<p>PURPOSE: A system and a method for security-based financial services using characters are provided to perform a security procedure by using a character service and to offer financial services based on the result of the security procedure. CONSTITUTION: A user (400) requests a financial service with a text message such as a short message service (SMS) or a multimedia message service (MMS) by using a terminal (200). A system (100) for providing financial services authenticates the user of the terminal through connection with a telecommunication company server (300) and provides the financial service for the user. The user collects documents having characters by a photographing means such as a camera attached to the terminal or inputs voice by a means such as a call function. A character conversion system (500) recognizes a photo transmitted from the terminal to extract characters from the photo or recognizes the voice transmitted from the terminal to extract characters from the voice, and transmit the extracted characters to the terminal.
