[Class 55 (ii)] Gas purifier towers are made up of superposed baskets K each having two layers of material and pockets G<1>, G<2>, at opposite points on the inside wall which form vertical inflow and outflow gas conduits by the assembly of the baskets. Gas enters by a number of inlets E and passing through slots O in the lower part of the baskets, flows between and penetrates the two layers being withdrawn through slots O<1> and outlets A. Packing material is provided at the junctions D, B of adjacent baskets and pockets respectively. Instead of the pockets, gas pipes may be attached to the individual baskets at each side and communicating through a liquid seal with branches from a vertical gas supply pipe and to a delivery pipe.
