The method involves selecting an error correcting code (C) whose length is higher than or equal to digits in reference data (W). Extended data (We) is generated by increasing size of the reference data comprising a secrete key (Sk), where the secrete key is defined by a couple of lists. A word is randomly selected from the selected error correcting code. Reconstruction data (S) is generated by combining the word with the extended data. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for correcting data for reconstructing extended reference data from noise data and reconstruction data generated during enrolling of reference data (2) a method for secured stabilization of data (3) a method for authentication and/or generation of a cryptographic key (4) an electronic authentication system comprising a biometric sensor.
