<p>Provided are a method and apparatus for selectively removing a text information in a video wherein the text information in the video is removed by a user's choice, and can be removed easily in real-time without an additional setting. The method of removing the text information in video comprises the steps of: detecting a text information area in an original image based on an erosion operation and an expansion operation; removing the text information of the detected text information area; and producing a restored video by restoring the text information area where the text information is removed.
