The present invention relates to a novel use of anemarrhena extracts, or the like, and goldthread extracts, or the like. Specifically, provided is a composition for preventing, improving or treating colitis, comprising, as an active ingredient, one or more selected from an anemarrhena extract, an alcohol-soluble fraction having 3 to 8 carbons of the anemarrhena extract, mangiferin, pharmaceutically acceptable salts of the mangiferin, neomangiferin, or pharmaceutically acceptable salts of the neomangiferin, or one or more selected from a goldthread extract, or an alcohol-soluble fraction having 3 to 8 carbons of the goldthread extract. The complex extract, which is made of the anemarrhena extracts, or the like, and the goldthread extracts, or the like, has excellent activity to prevent or treat colitis in colitis-derived model animals, or the like, thereby being used as a food and medicinal substance included in a pharmaceutical composition or a functional food composition. |
