Disclosed is an electronic system (10) for marketing foodstuffs. The system (10) includes an information storage device (14) for electronically storing product information about foodstuffs for sale by foodstuff suppliers. The system further includes a module (16) for a prospective buyer to view the foodstuff product information stored in the information storage device (14) over a data network and a module (17) for registering a prospective buyer request for access to a source of a foodstuff recorded in the information storage device (14). The registering module (17) also sends the source request to the foodstuff supplier over the data network. The electronic system (10) also includes a bargaining module (18) enabling the prospective buyer and a foodstuff supplier to bargain, through communications sent through the data network, a purchase price for a quantity of the foodstuff following buyer sampling. A contracting module (19) is also provided for enabling the foodstuff supplier to contract with the buyer for purchase of a quantity of sampled foodstuff at an agreed purchase price, the bargaining and contracting steps being conducted over the data network. |
