The oil deterioration suppressor according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises a reactant, which has the ability to adsorb a specified component in the oil such as an acidic anion, and a gel for holding said reactant. The reactant is preferably a hydrotalcite-like compound. The gel comprises a highly heat resistant gel and an amphipathic solvent. The gel-like member comprising the reactant and gel is disposed inside a casing, thereby providing an oil filter. The gel acts favorably to support the reactant.
