The invention provides a rotary electric machine. The rotary electric machine (1) is provided with a stator (13); a rotator (21) is configured opposite to the radial inner side of the stator (13) spaced by a magnetic gap (2); a rotary cover (22) which is connected with the rotator (21) and covers the end part of one axial side of the stator (13); a to-be-detected part (28) arranged on a stator side (13) in the rotary cover (22); and a detection part (18) detecting the position of the to-be-detected part (28) in an optical way.
