PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient image decoding method.SOLUTION: The image decoding method clips linear coupling in a first clipping range set by a first clipping parameter when a strong filter is applied to a boundary, whereas clips the linear coupling in a second clipping range set by a second clipping parameter when a weak filter is applied to the boundary. Although both of the first and second clipping parameters depend on the strength of the boundary, the first clipping and second clipping ranges respectively set therefrom are mutually different.
