Disclosed is a method for charging for an application, comprising: a CTF device receiving a charging rule for the application issued by a PCRF device; the CTF device executing the charging rule of the application, and detecting a stream of the application transmitted over one or more bearers according to an identifier of the application; the CTF device sending a charging session establishment request to a charging system according to a charging rule parameter of the application; the CTF device collecting charging information about a detected stream of the application; and the CTF device sending the collected charging information about the stream of the application through a charging session of the application. Since in the embodiments of the present invention, the CTF device will detect the steam of the application transmitted over one or more bearers according to the identifier of the application carried in the charging rule, and collect the charging information about the detected stream of the application, and the charging session of the application is established after the stream of the application is detected, the solution provided in the embodiments of the present invention can realize the charging for an OTT application. |
