The problem addressed by the present invention is to convert magnetic force of a permanent magnet to arc drive force efficiently and suppress degradation of magnetic properties by insulating the permanent magnet from arc heat, making assurance of isolation performance possible over a long period of time. To solve the problem described above, this switching device, which is a switching device provided with a fixed side contact provided on a fixed side conductor, a movable element capable of back and forth drive with respect to the fixed side contact and supported via a movable side contact on a movable side conductor, and a permanent magnet that opens electrodes and closes electrodes by bringing into contact and separating the movable element and fixed side contact and extinguishes, by making a magnetic field operate, an arc generated between the fixed side contact and the movable element when opening electrodes, is characterized by the permanent magnet being provided at a forward end part of the fixed side conductor and in a position more to the side between electrodes than the fixed side contact and the surroundings thereof being covered with an insulating material. |
