The invention relates to the art of medicine, specifically ophthalmology. The aim of the present invention is to create an effective pharmaceutical composition having a metabolic, anti-cataract, retina-protecting effect by virtue of said pharmaceutical composition containing taurine and additionally containing mineral substances: sodium, calcium, zinc and also the isotopes carbon-13. Use of the claimed pharmaceutical compositions will result in an enhanced healing effect and a more rapid onset thereof with no increase in the concentration of taurine, and will also result in the increased stability of a taurine-containing pharmaceutical composition during the shelf life thereof.
