The invention relates to cellulose chemistry and derivatives thereof, in particular, to a process for cellulose activation in wide use as a feedstock in chemical, pharmaceutical food and in other branches. The cellulose is activated in the following way: ground cellulose is treated with aqueous solution of sodium pyrosulphate of 1.0-9.0 wt % concentration, then cellulose is dried at 100-105°C for 60 minutes. At that the cellulose fragility is increased to the maximum and in milling for 6-8 minutes the macromolecular and fibrous structure is destroyed with a break of hydrogen bonds resulting in producing bulk cellulose powder having high reactive ability, wherein the cellulose fraction of 10-320 mkm size particles comprises 98.87 wt %. The activated cellulose powder can be used in the process of copolymerization with unsaturated monomers, as well as thickeners and a feedback for paint and varnish, textile and viscose industries. |
