This invention makes it possible to reduce the operating burden on a company that has introduced an electronic transaction service and/or the operating burden on a transaction counterparty and allows the transaction counterparty to perform electronic transactions with the aforementioned company securely. This electronic transaction system (100), which supports electronic transactions between first transacting parties and second transacting parties, has the following: an electronic signature unit (130) for each first transacting party; a signature-request processing unit (120); and a document table (171). The electronic signature units (130) apply electronic signatures to an electronic-transaction-related document, the signature-request processing unit (120) performs an authorization process when applying said electronic signatures, and the document table (171) stores the aforementioned document. The signature-request processing unit (120): accepts, from a first transacting party, a request for electronic signatures on the aforementioned document; creates, for each authorizer, a message containing information on the URL of an authorization page; sends said messages to the respective authorizers; and uses the corresponding electronic signature units (130) to apply electronic signatures to the document if a result indicating authorization is obtained from each authorizer and an authentication process based on authentication information that includes biometric information for the authorizers succeeds.
