In order to aid the setting and verification of monitoring rules that correspond to a monitoring target environment, an information processing system is provided with: a status information receiving unit that receives an input of status information expressing the status of a monitoring target environment; a normal status storage unit that associates environment information expressing the monitoring target environment with an aggregation of status information expressing the status when there is no abnormality in said environment, and that stores the environment information; and a retrieval unit that refers to the normal status storage unit and that retrieves the environment information associated with aggregations of status information that exclude the status information received as the input.
