<p>The present invention is based on the identification of culture conditions which permit tissue to be maintained in a viable state and for prolonged periods of time. The invention may be applied to the ex vivo and/or in vitro maintenance of tissue, including tissue which is representative of, or derived from, diseased tissue. Through application of the techniques, methods and procedures described herein, such tissue may remain viable and/or retain one or more features of, for example, the biochemistry, pathology and/or histology characteristic of the disease.</p> |
