PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device which can control the coat width of a slurry uniformly in each cell of a honeycomb substrate of a catalyst device for exhaust gas purification.SOLUTION: A slurry application device is for applying a slurry to cell walls which constitute cells of a honeycomb substrate 11 having a plurality of cells and includes a suction part 1 which is arranged with lower end surfaces of the honeycomb substrate and sucks a slurry 12 supplied to the upper end surfaces of the honeycomb substrate, a vacuum tank 4 connected to the suction part, an on-off valve 2 arranged between the suction part 1 and the vacuum tank, and vacuum formation means 5 of evacuating the inside of the vacuum tank. In a state where the on-off valve is closed, the vacuum formation means evacuates the inside of the vacuum tank to open the on-off valve, and the suction part thereby sucks a slurry supplied to the upper end surfaces of the honeycomb substrate so as to apply the slurry to the cell walls. |
