Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and a device for transmitting downlink control information. The method for transmitting downlink control information comprises: a base station determining time length information, the time length information being used for indicating a time length occupied by downlink control information to be sent by the base station to a user equipment; and the base station sending the time length information to the user equipment, and delivering the downlink control information to the user equipment, so that the user equipment receives the downlink control information according to the time length information. By using the method and the device for transmitting downlink control information in the embodiments of the present invention, the objective of flexibly strengthening the coverage can be achieved.
