Disclosed are a method for generating a descriptor and a hardware apparatus implementing same. Herein, a method for generating a descriptor, which is a method for a hardware apparatus for generating a descriptor on the basis of a feature of an image, comprises the steps of: configuring a region of interest in which integral image points are uniformly arranged with the feature as the center; calculating all integral image points arranged in the region of interest by means of memory patching; selecting, from among the integral image points, integral image points included in a descriptor generation area; and generating a descriptor on the basis of the selected integral image points.
