The present invention relates to a mobile terminal which surrounds a wrist and a control method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the present invention includes: a main body which surrounds at least a part of a wrist; a display unit which is placed at the front of the main body; a detection unit which detects the flatness and direction of the wrist; and a control unit which selects a display area of the display unit to display screen data based on the flatness and direction of the wrist detected by the detection unit.
