<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polymer-grade acrylic acid using a natural carbon source as starting material.SOLUTION: The method for producing a polymer-grade acrylic acid comprises the following stages of (i) to (vii). (i) preparing acrolein by a dehydration reaction of glycerin, (ii) preparing acrylic acid by oxidation of the acrolein, (iii) extracting the obtained acrylic acid by countercurrentwise absorption in the form of aqueous acrylic acid solution, (iv) dehydrating the solution in the presence of a solvent which is immiscible with water but capable of forming an azeotropic mixture with water, (v) removing light compounds, in particular acetic acid and formic acid by distillation, (vi) preparing "technical" grade acrylic acid by removing heavy impurities by distillation, (vii) preparing "polymer" grade acrylic acid by purifying the "technical" grade acrylic acid by distillation after adding an amino compound which can chemically react with aldehyde still present to acrylic acid.</p> |
