The invention relates to a light signal, particularly for rail routes, having a light source and an optical system for visualising a signal concept in differing ambient light levels, particularly for daytime operation and for night-time operation. In order to be able to omit any brightness adaptation in the light source which will promote degradation, the invention proposes that the optical system comprises an anisotropic element, the light transmittance of which depends on an electrical voltage (U) applied to the anisotropic element. |
