This invention relates to a method of determining the weight distribution of a population the method characterised by the steps of a) determining a likely weight range for members within the population b) enabling a plurality of members of the population to impact on a weighing device wherein multiple members may be on the weighing device at one time, c) recording inputs from the weighing device wherein each input corresponds to the presence of the multiple members on the weighing device at one time, d) using values derived from the inputs and applying an algorithm to specify a number of subsets, each of the subsets representing a discrete number or proportion of members with weight values associated with same.
