PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent generation of useless power consumption before communication is enabled, in the case of a terminal that operates using only PoE.SOLUTION: PoE power sourcing equipment communicably connected to an external device through a LAN cable includes: power supply means for supplying power to the external device through the LAN cable; communication control means for performing communication control with the external device; and supply propriety determination means for determining whether or not the external device can be supplied with power through the LAN cable. When the supply propriety determination means determines that the external device can be supplied with power through the LAN cable, the communication control means stops transmitting a link pulse to the external device, transmits a link pulse to the external device after a predetermined period has passed, and starts establishing communication with the external device through the LAN cable.
