PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acid generator and the like containing no toxic metal, having sufficient cationic polymerization performance and crosslinking performance, giving sufficient reliability particularly in electric characteristics (insulation reliability) of a cured product that uses the acid generator.SOLUTION: The acid generator contains an onium borate expressed by general formula (1) shown below. A thermally curable or active energy ray-curable composition is provided, which comprises the above acid generator and a cationic polymerizable compound. A chemically amplified negative photoresist composition is provided, which comprises a component (A) comprising the above acid generator, a component (B) that is an alkali-soluble resin having a phenolic hydroxyl group, and a crosslinking agent component (C). |
