<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a readout time of a sensor by reading a specific area out and to suppress a decrease in focus detection precision when focus detection of an imaging element is performed.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes: an imaging element which includes a plurality of microlenses and a plurality of photoelectric conversion elements such that a plurality of photoelectric conversion elements correspond to each of the plurality of microlenses; a detection part which detects a phase difference between two image signals obtained from different photoelectric conversion elements among a plurality of photoelectric conversion elements corresponding to one microlens; a drive part which drives and focuses an imaging lens based upon the detected phase difference; a setting part which sets a readout range of a signal from the imaging element based upon the detected phase difference; and a control part which controls a frame rate at which signals are read out of the imaging element according to the set readout range.</p> |
