The present invention relates to an image processing method and a recording medium for detecting whether invisible patterns of playing cards exist or not. The image processing method for detecting whether invisible patterns of playing cards exist or not comprises: (a) a step for converting the RGB color model value of a bitmap image into the Lab color model value; (b) a step for performing histogram normalization in the bitmap image; (c) a step for providing the image having the smoothened noise outlines; (d) a step for generating an unsharp mask result image; (e) a step for performing histogram normalization once again; (f) a step for obtaining the threshold of the image normalized twice and comparing the threshold of the image normalized twice with each pixel value of the image to binarize the image into black and white; (g) a step for mapping the image after the binarization with the result image after a median filter to calculate the average, variance, and standard deviation; and (h) a step for judging playing cards if the ratio of the histogram is less than the threshold and judging gambling cards if the ratio is greater than the threshold.
