[Class 108 (i)] [Also in Group X] In bodies for motor road vehicles, having a frameless and pillarless windscreen secured along its lower edge to the scuttle, means are provided adjacent the upper edge of the screen, for enabling the front transverse roof or hood member to be directly connected to or disconnected from it. In one form, a screen 1, of toughened glass, is clamped against the scuttle 2 by a strip 3 secured by bolts 4, each of which passes through a rubber sleeve 5 fitted in the screen, strips 7 of sponge rubber and rubber beading strips 8 being interposed between the screen, scuttle and strip 3. Hooks 18, engaging clips on the front transverse hood member, which has a rubber-lined groove engaging the top edge of the screen, are bolted to the screen adjacent this edge, rubber washers 21 being interposed between the metal parts and the screen. A drip channel 9 is provided and in a modification this is replaced by a rubber-lined channel member engaging the lower edge of the screen and having a flange secured to the scuttle.</p> |
