[Class 125 (iii)] A screw-on lid 1 for a tin &c. which has a curled edge 8 and which is intended to be vacuumized has a groove 3 therein which contains a packing 4 of rubber compound having incorporated therein a lubricant such as water or castor oil. A ledge 6 may be provided in the tin &c. to facilitate opening with a coin &c. The tin may have a side seam and may be closed from the lower end thereof. The rubber sealing compound may be of latex in which the lubricant has been emulsified. Specifications 355,397, and 457,459, [Group XXII], are referred to.</p> |
