[Class 40 (iv)] In a 400-line exchange comprising finderconnector links, the finders and connectors are two-directional switches with four sets of wipers, and the two switches of a link are mounted on a common base-plate 10 with their shafts 31, 27 horizontal and with the controlling relays and a minor switch 15 between them. The base-plates 10 of a number of links are mounted one above another on angle bars 3, 4 and the contact banks are supported on rods 17 extending between these bars and channel-section bars 2, 5, the bars 2.. 5 being secured together by transverse members 11. Connections to the wipers are made from a terminal block 23. A vertical wiper 329 and bank 328 and a pin-bank 26 for controlling P.B.X. hunting are also provided. To restore the switches to normal in the longitudinal direction, a lever 49, Fig. 2, pivoted to a bracket 46 and controlled by a spring 51 bears on a member 44 secured to the shaft 27. Level springs 354 are controlled by a comb member 42. Line relays and other equipment are mounted on the backs of the base-plates 10. Specification 472,280 is referred to.
