Preparing setting accelerator for a binder based on calcium sulfate, comprises carrying out dry grinding of gypsum and at least one polycarboxylate. Independent claims are also included for: (1) the setting accelerator obtainable by the above method; (2) a binder composition comprising the binder based on calcium sulfate, and the setting accelerator; and (3) a molding, preferably a gypsum board comprising the cured binder composition.
