The method involves receiving a measurement of a biometric parameter of an eye of a patient (100), and determining an optimal model of a probe according to the biometric parameter of the eye (200), where the biometric parameter of the eye is selected from the horizontal width of the iris through the center of the pupil, and/or the axial length of the eye. The optimal model of the probe is determined according to the horizontal width of the iris passing through the center of the pupil and/or the axial length of the eye. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program product for determining an optimal model of a probe for treating ocular pathology (2) a system for determining an optimal model of a probe for treating ocular pathology.
