The driver tool is for connector and/or fixation elements such as screws or bolts. The tool includes a driver shaft 3a and one or more driver elements 3d protruding from the shaft. Each driver element includes one or more pins for inserting into a socket (4b, Figure 2B). Each driver element also includes one or more securing features to, individually or collectively, frictionally engage the socket walls using a spring force. Each securing feature includes one or more flexing arm(s) 3b attached to the pin and one or more slits 3g in the driver element, for receiving a portion of the arm(s). Each flexing arm has a protrusion (3i, Figure 2D) extending in an outward direction. One or more guide features along each flexing arm guide the driver element into the socket and compress the arm towards one of the slits to provide the spring force. The driver element may be non-circular in shape. The securing features are arranged so that the torque required for driving a fixation is decoupled from the frictional force for engaging the socket of the fixation. |
