An apparatus for a vehicle 100 driven by an electric motor 123, powered by an energy storage means 150, generates an audible sound dependent on whether the vehicle 100 is connected to a charging facility 160. The vehicle 100 may be an electric vehicle or a hybrid electric vehicle. The sound or sonic signature may be generated upon detecting or receiving a signal from a portable user identification device 190, such as an electronic key. The sound may be generated inside or outside the vehicle 100 cabin. A plurality of different sounds may be selected, according to a state of charge of the vehicle 100, or whether the vehicle 100 is connected to the charging station 160. A vehicle 100 comprising the apparatus and a method of providing feedback to a vehicle user by generating a sound in this way are also presented. |
