<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for transforming fibrous asbestos (tremolite) into cubic calcium carbonate. <P>SOLUTION: A mixture of tremolite powder and an alkali solution is subjected to a direct carbonation reaction in the presence of carbon dioxide, and cubic calcium carbonate is produced. In the production method, not only harmfulness of asbestos is fundamentally removed by completely removing a fibrous crystal of asbestos, but also carbon dioxide is stabilized and fixed or stored, and consequently two harmful environmental problems are simultaneously solved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT</p> |
