[Class 111] A cell for the treatment of domestic manure is open in a permanent manner at its upper part and the circulation of air through the mass of manure is effected from the top downwards by the suction of air from under a perforated base supporting the mass of manure. As shown, the cell 1 is open at the top 2 and is provided with a perforated base 9, upon which the manure rests, and a sloping floor 3. An air suction pipe 20 connects through a flow-meter 19 and a stop-cock 18 and a pipe 17 to the space under the floor 9. Water is supplied through a stop-cock 15 and flowmeter 16 to a perforated tube 12 and flows to the floor 3 which directs it through a siphon 4 into a collecting pipe 6. Each cell is provided with a thermometer and a manometer. According to a modification, the top 2 is closed by a cover having openings for the passage of the air on its periphery.</p> |
