<p>A locknut assembly comprises a nut 18 and a compression washer 20. The nut 18 has a head portion 22 and a retention portion 24. The retention portion 24 extends from the head portion to a free end, distal to the head portion. The retention portion 24 is frustoconical such that the free end has a diameter which is smaller than a diameter of the end of the retention portion 24 adjacent the head portion 22. The compression washer 20 comprises a ring member with an inner bearing surface which has a minimum diameter which is greater than the diameter of the free end of the retention portion 24 but smaller than the diameter of the retention portion 24 adjacent the head portion 22.</p> |
