Disclosed are a method and a device for recognizing a gesture or capturing a motion. The method for recognizing a gesture or capturing a motion includes: recognizing a gesture and capturing a motion by modulating motion information or position information of at least one of ultra-wide band communications device, which is attached to a part of an object for the gesture recognition or the motion capturing, to an impulse signal of a base band with a predefined sequence; receiving the modulated impulse signal by at least one antenna at a predetermined radio signal strength; and processing the motion information and the movement information of at least one of the ultra-wide band communications devices.
