摘要 An implant suitable for being anchored with the aid of mechanical vibration in an opening provided in bone tissue. The implant is compressible in the direction of a compression axis under local enlargement of a distance between a peripheral implant surface and the compression axis. The implant includes a coupling-in face which serves for coupling a compressing force and the mechanical vibrations into the implant, which coupling-in face is not parallel to the compression axis. The implant also includes a thermoplastic material which, in areas of the local distance enlargement, forms at least a part of the peripheral surface of the implant.

A method of anchoring an implant in hard tissue or hard tissue replacement material with the aid of mechanical vibrations, which implant comprises a coupling-in face suitable for transmission of mechanical vibrations, and which implant further comprises a material liquefiable by mechanical vibrations, which forms at least a part of a surface of the implant, the method comprising the steps of: positioning the implant on the hard tissue or hard tissue replacement material in such a way that areas of the implant comprising the liquefiable material are in contact with the bone tissue; coupling a unidirectional force and additionally mechanical vibration via the coupling-in face into the positioned implant, whereby the liquefiable material is at least partly liquefied where in contact with the hard tissue or hard tissue replacement material and pressed into the hard tissue or hard tissue replacement material to form a form-fit connection with the hard tissue or hard tissue replacement material after re-solidification, wherein the force and the mechanical vibrations are coupled into the implant from a tool, into which the mechanical vibrations are coupled on a proximal side and which comprises a coupling-out face on a distal side, said coupling-out face being in direct contact with said coupling-in face of said implant so as to couple the mechanical vibrations from the tool into the implant, and wherein the force being coupled into the tool is a tensile force.
